Super Show-Down Match Predictions

Gimmicky pay-per-view or glorified house show? You decide. WWE’s Super-Down is this Saturday from the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia. There are only 10 matches on the card; three SmackDown Live title matches, but no Raw title matches. In addition to the SmackDown Live title defenses, Cedric Alexander will defend his Cruiserweight championship. Because Melbourne is 14 hours ahead of us on the east coast, the pay-per-view will be airing live at 5 a.m. EST. Ouch! I guess wouldn’t be watching live. But I’ll definitely be watching.

Triple H (with Shawn Michaels) vs. The Undertaker (with Kane)

Winner: The Undertaker (with Kane)

Who I’m Cheering For: Triple H (with Shawn Michaels)

I’ll admit it. I wasn’t as excited as I should have been for this match. I wasn’t sold. I totally got it, the Australian fans deserved an opportunity to see these great legends face off.  But seeing all four superstars in the ring at the end of Monday Night Raw has peaked my interest and inner child. What a nostalgic moment.

Bobby Lashley and John Cena vs. Elias and Kevin Owens

Winner: Bobby Lashley and John Cena

Who I’m Cheering For: Both teams

The Bobby Lashley (with Lio Rush) vs Kevin Owens (with Elias) feud has been pretty entertaining. On this Monday’s episode of Raw, KO and Elias got one of the best heel reactions in recent memory. That atomic heat. Lashley and KO also have great in-ring chemistry, so I’m looking forward to this match. Since Cena will be making his return Saturday, I can’t see Lashley and Cena losing. My money is on Lashley and Cena.

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship

Winner: The Miz

Who I’m Cheering For: Daniel Bryan

Just when I thought the Daniel Bryan vs The Miz feud was getting stale, the WWE went and freshened it up a bit. Daniel Bryan vs The Miz has been one of the greatest feuds of the PG Era. I’m happy to see this feud being elevated, and the stakes have now been raised. I think The Miz will win only because I don’t see the WWE giving us a face vs face, Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles, championship match. It’s rare, but it can happen.

Here’s what I would love to see.  The Miz win the #1 contender spot. Go on to face AJ Styles at either Survivor Series or Royal Rumble. The Miz wins but is challenged by Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 35. In true underdog fashion, Bryan wins at WM35. If all else fails, give us a Fatal Four Way match between AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs The Miz vs Daniel Bryan.

The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins) vs. The Dogs of War (Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre)

Winner: The Shield

Who I’m Cheering For: The Shield

Lol, The Shield wins. I would be in a total state of disbelief if The Shield doesn’t win. It’s pretty obvious the WWE is building the Shield up to be the most dominant fraction of past and present. The Shield will be unstoppable until someone in the group causes it to implode. The implosion is happening, but it’s not happening at Super Show-Down.

The Bella Twins (Brie Bella and Nikki Bella) and Ronda Rousey vs. The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott, and Sarah Logan)

Winner: The Bella Twins and Ronda Rousey

Who I’m Cheering For: The Bella Twins and Ronda Rousey

Just like The Shield’s match, I would be shocked ifThe Bella Twins and Ronda Rousey lost. It’s obvious here, too, that The Bellas (as a tag team) and Rousey are both being built as the best of Raw women’s division. So much so, that the rumors of a Nikki Bella vs Ronda Rousey match at Evolution later this month might be true.

AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe in a No Countout, No Disqualification match for the WWE Championship

Winner: AJ Styles

Who I’m Cheering For: AJ Styles

AJ Styles will win, that’s cool. But what wouldn’t be cool is another strange finish to an AJ championship match. While I don’t see Samoa Joe winning this match, he’s the real MVP (Wendy too!) Joe has done such a great job playing such a vile villain. We will never forget two simple, but revolting words when spoken by Joe, “Oh Wendy!”

Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Buddy Murphy for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Winner: Cedric Alexander

Who I’m Cheering For: Cedric Alexander and Buddy Murphy

Most fans know Buddy Murphy will win the Cruiserweight championship at some point in his career. How cool would it be if he won the title in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia! Honestly, it doesn’t matter who wins. This match might just steal the show.

The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. The Bar (Cesaro and Sheamus) for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Winner: The New Day

Who I’m Cheering For: The New Day

This one, I’m not completely sure who will win. On one hand, we have The New Day. The New Day is the WWE’s longest reigning tag team champions and five-time tag team champs. The New Day is still over and still selling merch. But would The New Day be holding the belts if Erick Rowan wasn’t injured? Are The New Day just transitional champions? If so, who’s next in line for the titles? The Bar? Maybe The Bar will win Saturday.

Asuka and Naomi vs. The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce)

Winner: The IIconics

Who I’m Cheering For: Asuka and Naomi

Unpopular opinion, but I have enjoyed seeing Asuka and Naomi join forces. From backstage segments, in-ring chemistry, and even ring gear, they’ve been working very well together. However, I still don’t think Asuka and Naomi will win on Saturday. The IIconics have the home country advantage. Plus, the WWE doesn’t usually host pay-per-view events in Australia, so it would be cool if the IIconics won.

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

Winner: Becky Lynch

Who I’m Cheering For: Charlotte Flair

I do think Charlotte will win back the SmackDown Women’s Championship, but she’ll probably win it back at a more historic pay-per-view. (*cough cough* Evolution! *cough cough*) Plus, Becky has done a great job as a heel champ, so it wouldn’t make much sense to have her lose the title on her first title defense. We can also assume that Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair will be facing each other again at Evolution.
